Areas of Interest Traveling to and from High Country 2009

Welcome to the Model A Ford Club of Colorado 2009 High Country Tour.

Our objective is to provide a group of tours that will appeal to a broad range on attendees. We have five types of tours planned:

1.) Guided Walking

2.) Self-Guided Walking

3.) Guided Driving

4.) Self-Guided Driving Tours


GUIDED WALKING TOUR

The Guided Walking Tour will be in the town of Breckenridge, and will be conducted by a representative from the Breckenridge Historical Society. The tour will last approximately 1 ½ hours and will visit Historic Sites within the Breckenridge downtown area. The Tour Guide will provide informative history of Breckenridge and the locations throughout the tour. For more information click on a link below.

SELF-GUIDED WALKING TOURS

The Self-Guided Walking Tours are to historic sites in Breckenridge, and many locations are the same as those visited on the Guided Walking Tour. The Self-Guided option allows you to visit these locations at a time and pace more convenient to you, visiting these locations as your interest and schedule permits. GUIDED DRIVING TOURS

There will be four Guided Driving Tours: 1.) the South Park Tour, a visit to a Historic Mining Town in Fairplay; 2.) the Minturn-Leadville Loop, which will travel on a section of the “Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway”; 3.) the Judged Car Mandated Driving Tour around Dillon Reservoir; and 4.) the Grand Tour, which includes an option to enter Rocky Mountain National Park for a brief drive on Trail Ridge Road. SELF-GUIDED DRIVING TOURS

There are a number of Self-Guided Driving Tours available. They include: short drives to areas of interest in the Breckenridge-Dillon area, more challenging longer drives to different areas including some mountain passes, and other trips to locations where train rides are available to view the mountains and other scenic areas. Some of these locations may also be visited during your trip to or your return trip from the High Country Tour. More information is available on the “Self-Guided Driving Tours link”.
